Writing or Creativity Feels Stuck? These 3 Rituals Always Bring Me Back
Whenever I hit creative blocks, I come back to ritual.
Hi friends! I hope you’ve had a good day! If you saw my Instagram post today you might’ve seen that I posted 3 rituals for creative or writing blocks and I wanted to expand on the rituals here for anyone who wanted to try them!
As an author and astrologer, I know what it feels like when the words feel stuck. But I’ve learned to stop pushing, and start tending.

Now… here are three rituals I turn to when my own creativity feels blocked:
1. The Mindful Coffee Break
This is my reset ritual. I treat a coffee break like a pause.
Instead of making it on autopilot while stressing, I step away from my screen and move slower. I let the act of making coffee become a small ceremony—choosing my favorite mug or cup, pulling the shot, adding in cream like it’s a spell.
While it brews, I breathe. Sometimes I jot down some notes. Sometimes I just sit in stillness and let my mind wander. There’s no pressure to produce something—just permission to not force anything.
Let it be slow. Let it be sacred. Let it be the moment that changes everything without trying.
You can try this with tea, matcha, or even a solo glass of water in the sunlight. The point isn’t the drink—it’s the pause.
2. The Grounding Walk
This is a ritual in presence. Just my feet on the ground and my senses tuned to the world around me.
I pay attention to what’s blooming. What’s shifting in the air. The crunch of leaves, the sound of birds, the sun on my face, or even the dull gray of a cloudy day—anything that reminds me I’m here and in motion.
This isn’t about counting steps or “getting outside for productivity.” It’s about gently shifting my state. Movement without pressure. Spaciousness without input.
Every time I let myself walk without chasing answers, ideas start drifting back in.
You don’t have to walk far. Even ten minutes around the block can be enough.
3. Clearing the Space
When I feel blocked, I look at my space. And if it feels stagnant, I shift.
There are lots of ways to clear the energy in your space. You can open the window, light some incense, use bells or sound bowls whatever resonates with you.
I open a window and I light something: usually a candle and Palo Santo I get from Mexico. And I often change the music I’m listening to as well.
It’s like telling my space—and my mind—“We’re open to new energy now.”
This is about creating an energetic shift that signals, you don’t have to stay stuck here.
Even just lighting a candle and opening a window while you exhale can create a wave of clarity. Don’t underestimate how powerful that can be.
These rituals aren’t dramatic. They’re gentle invitations back into the creative flow. And when your creativity feels blocked, flow is everything.
