Happy Thursday, friends! And happy solstice! I’m in California in the northern hemisphere and I’m so excited to welcome the first official day of summer🌞 The solstice also kicks off the start of Cancer season which is why I put the art for the Cancer card from my upcoming Cosmic Magic Oracle deck/book above. It’s one of my favorite images in the deck (so pretty, right?😍).
The summer solstice is a magical moment that marks the first day of summer and it’s the longest day of the year. The sun is the most potent on the solstice making it a time to celebrate our light, set intentions for the rest of the year, and embrace the joy in our lives.
The solstice (date and time this year is June 20th at 1:50pm PST) always takes place on the first day of Cancer season. A theme surrounding Cancer season is protecting our energy and there’s also a cozy summer vibe that goes along with this season. There’s love, magic, and nostalgia in the air. Like being in high school and it’s summer vacation and you’re hanging with friends and getting ice cream, laying out by the pool, roller blading at sunset, sitting around a bonfire, all while day dreaming about your crush. Those sort of vibes.
Cancer season reminds us that we are allowed retreat when we need to, that our peace is worth protecting, and that spending time with those who we love creates magical moments that will stay with us forever.

A Summer Solstice Ritual/Card Spread

This five-card tarot/oracle spread focuses on the energy of the summer solstice. To do a card spread, shuffle the cards and fan them out in front of you, face down. Then pick five cards that you feel most drawn to and use them for reflection with the questions below. Alternatively, you can use the questions as journal prompts for reflection instead, if you prefer.
Card 1. What aspect of my life currently brings me joy?
Card 2. What in my life am I holding back that could bring me joy, and what can I do to bring it into the light?
