Here’s a Bookish Birth Chart Analogy to Help Shed Light on Your Astrological Story
Cause birth charts can sometimes be confusing...
When it comes to astrology, a lot of people tend to know their sun sign, aka their zodiac sign, the sign that comes up when you Google your birthday. But there’s a lot more to astrology than just your sun sign!
Enter: the birth chart, also known as a natal chart. With in the birth chart there are a handful of placements and sometimes understanding them can get a little confusing. So I’m gonna share with you a fun bookish birth chart analogy that I like to use to help people understand their birth chart a little better. I’ve been using this analogy for years and it always seems to give people a little more understanding of their chart. I use books for my analogy but I’ve also heard astrologers do a similar analogy using film, plays, etc. But for a book lover like me, an analogy with books always made the most sense. :)
And if you don’t know your birth chart, I would highly recommend putting your birth info in a birth chart generator or doing a birth chart reading to discover all the placements in your birth chart.
First, let’s get into what the birth chart is. A birth chart is a snapshot of the sky at the exact moment that you were born. And since it includes the birthday, birth time, and location, there are literally millions and millions of possibilities. Your birth chart is your own cosmic blueprint of the energy in the sky at the moment you came into this world. It’s an energetic map you can use for inspo, insight, self-discovery, and self-love.
The birth chart represents your energetic potentials and helps to confirm your intuition, but it does not put you in a box nor does it represent your life’s outcome or take away your free will. Astrology just gives us this cosmic map to reference if we want to along the journey but it does not control our lives. You are the author of your story!
But since birth charts can be a little confusing, especially when you are just getting started with them, analogies tend to help. And as mentioned earlier, I like to used a bookish birth chart analogy, which is simply viewing the birth chart through the lens of a book, to help people understand some of the main placements in their birth charts a little better.
Before we dive into the bookish birth chart analogy, you can find more info on birth charts and all the astrology things in my upcoming book COSMIC CARE which releases on February 27th! Now let’s get in to the bookish birth chart analogy!
Starting with your chart as a whole, your birth chart is the plot of your astrological story. It has cosmic main characters, personal worlds, themes, and more, that can make you think, can act as a mirror for self-reflection, open your mind, and give you a greater sense of self-compassion and empathy, just like good stories are intended to do.
Your sun sign is the main character of your birth chart and cosmic story. It represents the identity of the birth chart and how you shine and how you flourish. It’s the sun after all so it definitely shines the brightest in the chart and is the primary energy of the chart.
Your moon sign is the world in which the astrological story of your birth chart is set. This is because the moon sign in the chart represents your emotional landscape and your inner self and inner world.
Your rising sign is the cover of the book of your cosmic story. The rising sign is the placement that sets the tone of the birth chart and also represents the first energy of the chart, just like we first see a book cover when we look at a book.
The rising sign also gives you your chart ruler, which is the sign and planet that rules the rising sign. And in addition to your sun sign, the chart ruler is one of the most prominent energies in your birth chart. And with this analogy, the chart ruler is like the genre of your astrological story, or energetic theme.
Now while those four placements are the main ones that really work with this bookish birth chart analogy, bringing in some other placements can work as well. Like Venus is the aesthetic of the story and how the character finds love. Mercury is the style the story is written and how the character communicates. Mars is how the main character takes action. Saturn is the lessons the character learns throughout the story. And Jupiter is how the character stays hopeful and finds abundance.
Looking at your birth chart through the lens of a book can you give another way of viewing and understanding your astrological story since astrology is so complex and can sometimes be a bit tricky to understand. And also, it’s just a fun analogy. :)
Hope you are having a good day and sending you so much love today and always!
